The Casual LBD

Hey there Curvaceous Loves!  So today I woke up late (maybe this shouldn’t be a surprise anymore) and I had zero desire to put two peices of clothing together in my mind nor was I prepared to adult in heels. I said myself “Self, what can we wear today that’s comfy without looking too casual?” I went and pulled my trusty LBD swing dress. I scored this dress a few months ago from Forever 21 and typically I’ve been throwing it on with my red Converse to run errands but today I decided I  to make it work for me! I paired it with a statement necklace from H&M, lace up sandals from Target and an Aztec print clutch from Aldo (which is currently my favorite Bag in my collection).

Get into the look below 😘

Memo to Curvy Girls in Hot Weather:

For some of you, summer is your least favorite season because you feel limited in your clothing options. You think that shorts, crop tops and bikinis aren’t for you. (I know because I used to believe it too.)

Well you’re wrong and everyone who fat shamed you into believing that is wrong. Baby, the fashion world improved by leaps and bounds for us.
Rock your fashions with the confidence and carelessness of a smaller woman. Bare those arms, thighs and a little bit of tummy. Dance at those summer weddings and skip through those waves at the beach because you SLAY.
Love,

Curvy Ash Styles

Thrift Mix!

Hello curvy loves!  Today’s outfit is inspried by my thrifting find and the fact that the weather in Baltimore won’t let me be “spring time great”!

Two weeks ago I attended the Broccoli City Festival in Washington DC. Imagine AfroPunk and Coachella had a baby, that was the vibe. Black hipsters united to see performances by BJ the Chicago (who I LOVE!), The Internet, Jhene Aiko and Future. Awesome food trucks, indie soundstages, and all types vendors were apart of this festival created to promote better lifestyle choices in urban communities. There were so many vendors this year selling vintage items ridiculously marked up. While perusing the vendors I stumbled a plus-size thrift vendor. I literally squealed with glee!  This beautiful blue baroque pleated skirt was only $5!! I also scored a Versace inspired blouse for the same price, I was in heaven!

I mixed this skirt with modern peices so as not look like I stepped out of a time machine. Get into my spin on this vintage peice below.

Off-the-Shoulder Love

Hello Curvy  Cuties! Today’s look is completely inspired by this seasons trend of off-the-shoulder tops. I love how fun and flirty these tops can be. It takes me back to the 90’s all while feeling super feminine. The best thing about the 90’s trends coming back is I get to wear all the fashions I couldn’t because I was a kid. I paired my top with a black & white pencil skirt, black strappy sandals and yellow tassel earrings for a pop of color.

Also if you noticed I straightened my hair, then you know I was trying to give y’all all types of Halle Berry in Boomerang realness today lol

Needless to say I wasn’t passing up the opportunity! I literally had this outfit laid out my in guest bedroom and threw it on. I love the way these pics turned out! Get into the look below.

Comfy Cute Date Night

Hey there Curvy Girls! I am back with another post. I know what you’re thinking “Whaaaat two days in row?!” I actually meant to post this outfit sooner but then life happened. Friday night is date night in America and that can mean out with your guy or out with the girls. If you are anything like me after Corporate America beats you up all week, you can be totally content with laying on your couch eating chocolate chip cookies watching Netflix but this Friday my good girlfriend got me out the house. So of course the classic pre-meet-up conversation ensued:Me: “What are you wearing?”

Her: “A comfy bodycon and heels. So I would say comfy-cute.”

Me: *grunts* (Just to be clear, there is nothing comfy about a bodycon in my mind because that requires Spanx for me)

So I kindly put my leggings back in the drawer and came up with the outfit below for a chilly night in Baltimore.

Tank Top, Hat and Sweater: H&M

Jeans: Old Navy

Booties: Ivanka Trump

A Forever 21 Sunday

Happy Sunday Curvy Girls! Today’s look is from is from forever 21. It’s not often I can put a whole Sunday outfit together from F21 because their hemlines ride a fine line when it comes to modesty but I absolutely love how this look came together. I didn’t even need a “prayer cloth” over my knees. This darling flare skirt and Victorian top comes in under $40!
